GOD’S PROMISES TO THE FATHERLESS
The world is blessed because we have fathers in it. As we celebrate Father’s Day and the great impact fathers have had on the lives of their families and the world, it is important to remember the fatherless: men, women, and children worldwide do not benefit from having a father.
Not one is missing. Not one is forgotten. God the Father has his eyes on each of you. In 1 Peter 1:1-2.
So, today, I will share with you 9 promises, especially to the fatherless:
1- I will be a Father to you
We all are God’s children. However, God reserves a special place for the fatherless in His heart.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. Psalm 68:5 NIV
2- I will not abandon you
God promises never to abandon the orphans.
I promise that I will never leave you helpless or abandon you as orphans—I will come back to you! John 14:18 TPT
3- I will defend you
You, LORD, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed so that mere earthly mortals will never again strike terror. Psalm 10:17 NIV
4- I will show you mercy.
For in You, the fatherless find mercy. Hosea 14:3b. NKJV
5- I will set you in a new family
God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. Psalm 68:8 NIV
6- I will receive you
Even if earthly parents abandon, God will receive and care for the fatherless, acting as their divine parent.
Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. Psalm 27:10
7- I will be your helper
When all other sources of help run dry, God promises to help the fatherless.
But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless. Psalm 10:14
8- I will care for you
I’ll take care of your orphans. Your widows can depend on me. Jeremiah 49:11
These promises reflect God’s heart for the fatherless, emphasizing His role as their protector, provider, and compassionate Father. They offer hope and assurance that the fatherless are not forgotten but are under the special care of God. God the Father hath his eyes upon, not one is forgotten, not one is lost, God the Father hath his eye upon. This Father’s Day, to everyone who is fatherless, perhaps your father has passed, or yours has forsaken you, or your father has never played an active role in your life.
