A day is a beautiful gift from God. Whenever we get one, we must learn to appreciate and use it well.
We must receive each day knowing that someday we will run out of those gifts.
True, not every day comes with those tiny sparkles that make them bright. Sometimes the day comes in bleak and grey overcast. Sometimes things don’t go our way.
But still, each new morning brings an opportunity for a fresh start. Each new morning brings fresh hope. Each morning signifies the start of a bright new day. But sometimes we miss out on it because we focus on the drudgery mess of dragging ourselves off the bed.
I will share with you 11-morning habits that will make your day a successful one. These habits are abbreviated in the word GOOD MORNING.
1- GET UP
Get up. It is a new day!
Alright, not every day will go as planned. But there is no shame in taking a knock.
Sometimes we get up in the morning with bag and baggage from our last ‘not so good day’ tied around our neck.
God designed sleep to give us that opportunity to sleep over things and wake up to a new day. I know not a lot changes over a few hours of sleep. A new day might not necessarily bring solutions, but it does offer you that opportunity to try again and to start afresh without prejudice.
Cultivate the habit of getting up in the morning. Today, get up. It’s a new day. The sun is shining bright, so step out of the shadows.
God’s mercies are new every day. Lamentation 3: 22-23.
2- OPEN YOUR HEART
Steve Maraboli said, “Forget yesterday– it has already forgotten you. Don’t sweat tomorrow– you haven’t even met. Instead, open your eye and your heart to a truly precious gift– today”.
Every morning, open your heart to great and new things. Open your heart to love. Open your heart to a second chance. Most importantly open your heart to God and what He is capable of doing this new day.
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him”. 1 Corinthian 2: 9
3- OFFER GRATITUDE
Be thankful. Count your blessing. Spend some minutes to appreciate the good things in your life and around you when you awake in the morning.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. Psalm 34: 1
4- DEDICATE YOUR DAY TO GOD
Many scriptures emphasize the need to dedicate our day to God in the morning. I will share some of those scriptures here.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:6
5- MEDITATE
Meditate until you are clear about your intentions today. Don’t complicate things just be still and know that God is God.
Meditate on his words. Psalm 119: 15 – 16
Meditate on his works. Psalm 143:5
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:8
6- OPTIMIZE YOUR RESOURCES
Optimize your resources by planning your day before heading out in the morning. Grab a piece of paper and write down your goals for the day. Mark off each item as they are accomplished.
Don’t ever walk out without a clear picture of what you plan to achieve.
And the LORD answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. Habakkuk 2: 2
7- RENOUNCE ALL NEGATIVE THOUGHTS
Remove all negative thoughts and focus on the bright side of things. One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. This won’t be easy but make a decision to always start your day in the morning with positive thoughts. Positive thoughts about your life, your marriage, and your dreams.
To be positive is a way of life and you can choose to live that way.
This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118: 24
8- NEVER UNDERESTIMATE YOURSELF
Never underestimate yourself or what God can do through you today.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4: 19.
9- INSPIRE SOMEONE
Inspiring acts can be simple as hugging someone or smiling at strangers you meet in the hallway. Tick that off your morning list every new day.
You are the salt of the earth. Mathew 5: 13
You are the light of the world, like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. Mathew 5: 14
10- NEVER LOSE FAITH
Whatever happens this brand new day, whatever happens this bright morning, never lose faith.
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12: 12
11- GO OUT WITH CONFIDENCE
Go out with your head high up. When you commit your day into God’s hands, he plays on your side. So, go out with a smile. Your whole life is ahead of you. You are loved.
So you’ll go out in joy, you’ll be led into a whole and complete life. The mountains and hills will lead the parade, bursting with song. All the trees of the forest will join the procession, exuberant with applause. Isaiah 55: 12
