In my post today, through five profound and deeply personal avenues, I will explore how God not only shields us from life’s tempests but also cradles us in His boundless love. God offers us refuge like no other the world could offer. 5 Ways God serves as your refuge:
1 A Tower of Salvation
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10.
Short Prayer.
2. A hiding place.
Keep me as the apple of the eye, Hide me under the shadow of thy wings, From the wicked that oppress me, From my deadly enemies, who compass me about. They are inclosed in their own fat: With their mouth, they speak proudly. Psalm 17:8-10
One of the ways God offers salvation to his children is to hide them from danger or the enemy. Imagine a hawk hovering nearby and picture the mama chicken hiding her chicks under her wings, creating a safe haven where they are shielded from the hawk’s piercing gaze. In the face of danger, in the presence of our enemies, and in the face of adversity, that is precisely what God does to His children. He is our hiding spot!
Short Prayer
David said in Psalm 23:5, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” I pray for you today that God will provide a table of plenty and safety for you in the days of adversity.
3. The rock that is higher than I.
Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth, I call to you; I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. Psalm 61 1.
When we’re at our wits’ end, when we have thrown everything we have at this adversary or issue with which we are dealing, when it is all beyond our comprehension, and we have reached our breaking point, we can climb upon the rock higher than I.
4. A place of refuge.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings, you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalm 91: 4
5. A secret place
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91: 1
